Work has commenced on the Googong Sports and Recreation Hub, backed by a $2.5 million grant from the Albanese Government and $650,000 from the Minns Government.

The new facility will serve as a key base for Googong’s sporting clubs, providing modern, accessible facilities for the local and wider sporting community.

The facility will include:

• four player change rooms, with showers, toilets and bench seating
• two referee change rooms, and accessible public amenities
• a commercial kitchen, canteen, event space and storage rooms
• spectator spaces to support surrounding ovals
• an undercover outdoor area.

Once complete, the facility will strengthen sporting infrastructure across the Queanbeyan-Palerang region, increasing participation in organised sport, supporting healthy lifestyles and strengthening community connections.
The Albanese Government committed $2.5 million to the project, alongside $650,000 from the NSW Government and $200,000 from the Queanbeyan Whites Rugby Union Football Club.

Member for Eden-Monaro Kristy McBain today attended a sod turning event at the site.
