The Albanese Government is pleased to announce the Bega Valley Medical Practice has been selected as the successful provider to operate the new Bega Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC), which will be located at 61 Carp Street, Bega.
The announcement follows a competitive tender process led by the South Eastern New South Wales Primary Health Network.
The clinic will be open seven days a week, initially from 8:00am to 6:00pm. It is expected opening hours will be extended.
The new clinic is expected to start delivering urgent care to patients from 31 January 2026.
The clinic will help to ease pressure on the Bega - South East Regional Hospital emergency department, where around 56 per cent of presentations in 2023-24 were for semi-urgent or non-urgent conditions.
The Bega Medicare Urgent Care Clinic will join the existing network of over 25 UCCs across New South Wales.
Over 100 Medicare Urgent Care Clinics have opened across Australia, which have already seen more than 2.2 million presentations since the first sites opened in June 2023. This includes over 457,800 presentations to the existing New South Wales Medicare Urgent Care Clinics.
