The Albanese Government continues to invest in targeted road improvements across Eden-Monaro, with $826,536 flowing to Yass Valley Council to support much-needed safety upgrades on Murrumbateman Road.
Set to begin in February 2025, works will include the installation of guideposts and safety barriers, along with upgrades to road shoulders, signage and road reflective markers.
These upgrades, funded through the Albanese Government’s Road Black Spot Program, will improve road safety for all motorists – particularly for heavy vehicles servicing local wineries, farms and quarries.
This is one of many projects being delivered in partnership with Yass Valley Council, as part of the Government’s commitment to improving the safety of local road networks in Eden-Monaro.
More than $7.5 million is also flowing to Yass Valley Council under the Government’s Roads to Recovery Program over the next five years – a boost of over $3.2 million thanks to the Albanese Government.
Nationally, the Roads to Recovery Program is progressively increasing from $500 million to $1 billion per year, the Road Black Spot Program is increasing to $150 million per year, and $50 million has been added to the new $200 million per year Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program.
