The Albanese Government is investing more than $2.8 million to upgrade the intersection of Boundary Road and Tathra Road in Bega through the latest round of the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (SLRIP).
The project will improve safety at the intersection, reduce the risk of crashes and provide better access for heavy vehicles.
It will also provide more reliable, all-weather access to the South East Regional Hospital and deliver a new 2.5-metre-wide shared path, connecting existing infrastructure with the hospital and surrounding developments.
The investment will help deliver safer and more reliable journeys for local residents, hospital staff, patients and visitors.
It is among 45 new projects receiving nearly $135 million in funding through the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program.
The Albanese Government has strengthened Commonwealth road programs, including doubling the Roads to Recovery Program to $1 billion per year, increasing the Black Spot Program from $110 million to $150 million per year, as well as providing $200 million per year for SLRIP.
The Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program funds projects that create safer and more productive roads across Australia.
