The Albanese Government continues to deliver critical road upgrades for communities in Eden-Monaro under the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (SLRIP).

Through the latest tranche of funding, two projects will share in $4.7 million in funding.

In the Bega Valley Shire, $3.5 million will go towards the Seven Mile Creek armco culvert upgrade on Mount Darragh Road. This upgrade will replace the existing culvert with a new single-span bridge and improve access along this important link between Bombala and the Princes Highway.

In the Goulburn-Mulwaree local government area, $1.2 million will go towards the design and upgrade of the Sandy Point Road bridge project. This project will replace the existing culvert and causeway across the tributary of Budjong Creek with a concrete culvert structure. The upgrade will also widen the carriageway, and includes new road shoulders, guard rails, line marking, and a fish ramp to support the movement of native fish through the waterway.

These projects are part of a more than $107 million investment for 42 projects nationwide under the latest funding tranche. This includes more than $91 million earmarked for projects in regional Australia.

The SLRIP is one of the ways the Albanese Government is supporting local government with the increasing cost of road upgrades and repairs.

With more than $200 million available each year, the program is part of the Albanese Government’s commitment to strengthen investment and support the delivery of safer and more productive roads across Australia.
