Member for Eden-Monaro Kristy McBain has announced that a Labor Government will provide $750,000 to the Murrumbateman community to build an all-abilities playground.

Kristy said it’s time for the hundreds of Murrumbateman kids to have somewhere to play and call their own within the Murrumbateman community.

“Murrumbateman is booming but unfortunately the infrastructure and recreational facilities haven’t kept pace with the growing community.

“There are so many more families, and the kids need somewhere to play. Not just some of the kids – all children.

“This is why I am so pleased to announce that a Labor Government will build a new $750,000 all-abilities playground with play and fitness equipment, where everyone can have a go.

“I first ran for Council in Bega back in 2012 because I didn’t agree with a decision made about a local playground and now almost 10 years later I am still just as passionate about making sure our kids have the facilities they need.

“Playgrounds are incredibly important for our kids to get outside, meet up with friends and build connections with their communities.

“I’ve seen firsthand the difference an all-abilities playground can make for our kids and I can’t wait to see the difference this will make in Murrumbateman.”

The commitment by Kristy and the Australian Labor Party will see the $750,000 provided to Yass Valley Council who will consult with the Murrumbateman community on the best location for the accessible playground.
