A $1 million grant program to help fund renewable energy projects for local community groups on the Far South Coast of NSW is now open for applications.
The Far South Coast Community Solar and Battery grants program is offering grants to fund solar or battery installations with a cost of $10,000 or more.
Successful applicants will be able to use their grant to install the renewable energy technology at facilities used by community groups for recreation, social, sporting or cultural purposes.
Facilities could include halls, sporting facilities, surf clubs and showgrounds.
These projects will deliver cheaper, cleaner energy to local Far South Coast community groups, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the region’s energy resilience during emergencies such as bushfires.
Applications are open to the local government areas of Bega Valley Shire and the southern part of Eurobodalla Shire, from the border with Bega Valley north to Tuross Head.
Grants will be awarded through a competitive process in line with NSW Government grant guidelines.
The funding is part of the Australian Government’s Community Solar Banks program in NSW, administered by the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
Applications are now open and will close on 13 December, 2024.
