THE HON KRISTY MCBAIN MP
MEMBER FOR EDEN-MONARO
I welcome the announcement today by Australia Post that it will be reopening the Goulburn Post Office in the heritage Auburn Street building in late 2027.
I have consistently called for the rectification of the Australia Post site in Goulburn given it is such a prominent and proud structure for the main street.
Since the heritage building was closed by Australia Post, the people of Goulbourn have made it very clear to my office and me how important it is for the community to have Australia Post services returned to this historic site.
Seeing how strongly the community felt about this issue, I relayed all your calls, emails and letters to Australia Post to ensure they knew how important the site is.
I also met with Australia Post officials, including the CEO, on a number of occasions to advocate for this outcome and I welcome Australia Post's confirmation that it will restore the building and the services in Goulburn to its original site.
I understand customers will continue to have access to Australia Post services at the temporary Post Office (168-172 Auburn Street) and the Goulburn North Licensed Post Office until the heritage building reopens.
I look forward to further updates from Australia Post on the scheduled reopening closer to the completion of works.
Thank you to the passionate community members for working with my office to secure this outcome.
