More than $2.5 million will be invested to upgrade the Tathra Road and Henry Taylor Road intersection at Jellat Jellat under the 2025-26 Black Spot Program funding round.

The upgrade will include installing a stop sign at the intersection, street lighting and sealing the unsealed approach. The upgrade will also see safety features installed such as retro-reflective raised pavement markers (RRPMs), guideposts, barrier lines and road feature signs.

The Black Spot Program funds safety measures such as traffic lights, safety barriers, roundabouts, and pedestrian crossings at locations where several serious crashes have occurred or are at risk of occurring.

This intersection is one of 84 projects recommended by the Black Spot Consultative Panel in New South Wales. This panel is comprised of local stakeholders who are best placed to ensure nominations of the highest priority and importance to the local community are recommended for approval.

Member for Eden-Monaro and Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories Kristy McBain said making Tathra Road safer was important to the local community.

“This upgrade will help to improve safety at the intersection of Tathra Road and Henry Taylor Road, and go towards improving the overall safety of Tathra Road.

“The Albanese Government has been increasing the total commitment to the Black Spot Program to $150 million per year.

“If there’s a road in your area you think needs upgrading, anyone can nominate a Black Spot. It’s one of the ways the Government is helping to make our roads safer.”
