As part of Mental Health Month, the Albanese Labor Government is reaffirming its commitment to improving access to mental health services in the Goulburn Mulwaree local government area.

Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, Emma McBride and Member for Eden-Monaro, Kristy McBain, visited the Goulburn Mental Health Hub last week.

It is one of many new support services made possible by the Albanese Government’s $73 million investment in primary mental health care for regional Australians.

The Goulburn Mental Health Hub provides free, walk-in support to the local community.

The Hub provides crucial services to anyone experiencing moderate psychological distress, delivering access to mental health information, professional care, and support.

Staffed by skilled mental health professionals and individuals with lived experience. The Hub offers comprehensive, integrated care tailored to meet local needs.

Since opening this year, it has significantly enhanced local access to tailored mental health services, support and information for people experiencing moderate psychological distress.

Co-designed with the community and local services, the Goulburn Mental Health Hub will soon extend its services to Yass one day a week to support more residents across the region.

The Goulburn Mental Health Hub is part of a wider network of mental health services, including five Mental Health Hubs and two Medicare Mental Health Centres across Southeast NSW including Queanbeyan and Bega.

Located at 23 Clifford Street, Goulburn, the Hub can be contacted on 1800 372 000.

Quotes attributable to Assistant Minister McBride:

“The Goulburn Mental Health Hub offers people across the Southern Tablelands free, walk-in mental health support and care, close to home.

“We recognise how important access to quality and safe mental health care is in regional areas like Goulburn and the surrounding communities.

Quotes attributable to Minister McBain:

“The Goulburn Mental Health Hub is a clear example of the Albanese Government investing in the mental health and well-being of regional communities, ensuring no one is left behind.

“Mental health is just as important as physical health, and this new Hub ensures people in Goulburn and the wider community have the resources they need to get timely support.”
