The Albanese Labor Government is investing over $2.5 million to improve road safety in Eden-Monaro, including over $1.5 million in the Bega Valley under its 2023/24 Black Spot Program.
The Black Spot Program funds safety measures such as traffic signals and roundabouts at locations where a number of serious crashes are known to have occurred or are at risk of occurring.

The program will deliver the following improvements in the Bega Valley along-
Sapphire Coast to Kulbardi Close, Bournda - including:

• Installing flexible barrier
• Wide painted profile (audio-tactile) centre line
• Edge lines and delineation improvements, and
• Widening shoulders and upgrades to high friction seal.

This work will make an important contribution towards reducing serious injuries and deaths on our roads, building on previous investments across the state.

This project is included in $31.9 million of funding allocated for New South Wales roads under the Black Spot Program’s 2023–24 funding round.

The New South Wales review panel includes representatives from the Local Government NSW, National Roads and Motorists’ Association, Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia, NSW Police Force, Federation of Parents & Citizens Associations of NSW, Traffic Management Association of Australia and Transport for NSW.
