Residents across Goulburn Mulwaree have come together for a telecommunications forum today to hear about the Albanese Government’s NBN upgrades.
Families and businesses in Goulburn need reliable, high speed internet at an affordable price, and the Albanese Government will deliver that as we build Australia’s future.
The Albanese Government will make an equity injection of up to $3 billion to expand full-fibre NBN upgrades, finishing the upgrades from the legacy copper network, which is a key part of our economic plan.
This upgrade means up to an additional 1,400 homes and businesses in Goulburn will get access to world class full-fibre upgrades.
This will benefit families and small businesses across Goulburn and Run-o-Waters.
This is in addition to the almost 10,000 premises in Goulburn already able to access higher speed broadband this year under the Albanese Government’s fibre upgrade program.
All up, about over 98% per cent of premises in Eden-Monaro’s fixed line footprint will be able to get speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second once all upgrades are complete.
Local residents and business can check the upgrade eligibility at their address and register to get alerts at www.nbnco.com.au
In addition to our full-fibre upgrades, households and businesses in Goulburn Mulwaree are also benefiting from faster internet and increased data with the completion of the Albanese Government’s $480 million upgrades to NBN Co’s Fixed Wireless and Satellite services.
Over 1,000 premises in Marulan, Tallong, Brayton and Bungonia can now access broadband speeds of at least 100/20 Mbps. These increased speeds allow for smoother streaming, faster downloads and uploads, and stronger connections – even with multiple devices online at the same time.
Quotes attributable to Minister for Communications, the Hon Michelle Rowland MP:
“Fast, reliable, affordable internet is an essential building block of any modern economy, boosting productivity, enabling innovation and creating jobs.
“Families and businesses in our regions and suburbs should have equal access to the opportunities the NBN delivers. Labor founded the NBN on this principal.
“Faster, more reliable internet allows smoother streaming, faster downloads and uploads, and stronger connections – even with multiple devices online at the same time.
“It enables access to essential government services, banking and telehealth, and learning and working online.
“The completion of these upgrades demonstrates what can be done with a publicly-owned NBN Co.
“In contrast, Peter Dutton wants to privatise the NBN, reducing services and making high speed internet more expensive for all Australians.”
Quotes attributable to the Member for Eden-Monaro, Kristy McBain:
“It was fantastic to be in Goulburn today to hear from residents directly about their need for faster, more reliable internet – and that’s exactly what we’re delivering.”
“All Australians deserve access to fast and reliable connectivity, no matter where they live or work.
“These upgrades mean communities across Goulburn Mulwaree won’t get left behind and will be able to enjoy the benefits that higher speed broadband brings.
