HOUSING

Every Australian deserves a secure place to call home, and finding somewhere affordable shouldn’t be a struggle.

That’s why Labor is making it easier to buy, better to rent, and we’re building more homes.

We’ve already helped over 150,000 first home buyers with deposits of 5 per cent or less, and with our Help to Buy plan, there’s more to come.

We've been working with the states to make renting fairer, and we’ve increased rent assistance by 45%.

But we know the long-term fix for housing is building more homes. That’s why we’re starting the biggest ever housing build.

We’ll build 1.2 million homes – including 55,000 social and affordable homes through initiatives like our Housing Australia Future Fund.

Our plan will:

  • Build more vital infrastructure

  • Cut red tape

  • Train more tradies with Free TAFE

  • Support construction apprentices with a new $10,000 payment

For a decade, the Liberals didn’t invest in housing. Not enough homes got built and housing got more expensive.

Labor will keep building, doing everything we can to get more Australians into a home of their own.
